NET ZERO FOR THE NORTH CONFERENCE HIGHLIGHTS NORTHERN POWERGRID'S CRITICAL ROLE IN ENABLING REGIONAL DECARBONISATION

Northern Powergrid, the electricity network operator that powers the lives of more than 8 million customers across the North East, Yorkshire and northern Lincolnshire, is pleased to announce its upcoming Net Zero for the North conference, set to take place at the iconic Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts in Gateshead.

Originally a flour mill built in the 1950s, the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts has since been transformed into one of the UK's premier cultural institutions, known for its exhibitions, events and architectural significance. Located on the banks of the River Tyne, the Baltic's distinctive design and rich industrial heritage provide a unique setting for discussions on net zero, sustainability and innovation.

Taking place on Thursday 21 March, Northern Powergrid’s Net Zero for the North conference will bring together industry and local government leaders, policymakers and other key stakeholders to collectively agree the actions needed to achieve our regions' net zero goals. Key areas of focus will include collaborative network planning and developing markets for flexibility services; how Northern Powergrid is working with industry and its stakeholders to deliver quicker, more efficient connections and how it can ensure a just equitable low carbon transition for the customers and communities it serves.
